The Away Station — Going Away & Awards Celebration
The Away Station Store is closing. All of our inventory is being sold for next to nothing as we rush to vacate the building we have served our community from for the last 8 years. Our staff is burning the midnight oil to get everything to a good home before the deadline. And as we approach that deadline, we are holding a celebration to say thank you to you—our friends, partners, and community—before the lights go out that final time.
On March 11, The Away Station Store Going Away & Awards Celebration will be held at our soon-to-be old building: 109 Broadway Blvd in Fairfax, CA. Tickets are available, and we hope to see each and every one of you there.

For 8-years, the mission of The Away Station Store has been to serve the community through its commitment to a Zero Waste society – by providing a convenient facility and services for the collection and redistribution of the by-products of our consumption (and unwanted materials), while educating the public on best practices for reuse, reduction, redesign and recycling and creating fulfilling green collar jobs and training opportunities. This closing party and awards ceremony, celebrates those that helped with all the success of The Away Station. Proceeds from the ticket sales will be used to pay for the event itself, and the costs that closing has brought with it.
Too bad I heard about this place too late– what happened? I’m looking for about 45 sq. ft. of paver stones for a bike pavilion project at my house and thought to look first for salvaged or left-over pavers before I go and buy new ones. My handyman goes to Urban Ore a few times a month– maybe your stuff went there?
